Woman Charged in Connection with Fatal I-26 Incident

Ebony RoddickORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) – A 31-year-old Columbia woman is behind bars and is facing charges after authorities say she failed to render aid to a victim killed along Interstate 26 in Bowman on Monday.

Ebony Roddick of 100 Lorick Circle is also charged with failure to give information.

The victim, 21-year-old Domnique Davis is the daughter of a former Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and current Richland County Sheriff’s deputy, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.

“Through the extensive investigation into this incident, we have at this point charged this woman with failing to render aid to the victim,” Ravenell said. “This investigation is ongoing as we have several avenues we’re still looking into. There’s still evidence to be processed.”

Roddick appeared at a bond hearing in Orangeburg Wednesday morning.

Bond was set at $5,000 surety.

During the court proceedings, Davis’ family members declined to address the court, authorities say.

“We’re asking prayers for this family, for the loved ones of this young lady whose life ended far too soon,” Ravenell said. “As I told the family in a brief meeting, this is a tragic event.”
