COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Good Morning Columbia has a look at what’s making headlines across the world.

Police in London have stepped up security after a woman died and five others were injured in a knife attack.  Officials say a man armed with a knife attacked people in Russell Square.

According to officials, an American woman was killed in the attack.

A 19-year old suspect is in custody.

British police say the suspect is a Norwegian of Somali origin, but they have found no signs of radicalization.   Officials say the investigation “increasingly points to mental health issues,” as lying behind the rampage.

Also new this morning, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Earl has weakened to a tropical storm as it moves inland after making landfall in Belize.   Earl slammed the coast of Belize early Thursday morning with winds of 80 miles per hour.   The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Earl is moving westward.  The storm could still bring torrential rains to neighboring Guatemala and southern Mexico.
