Coroner Identifies Suspect in Officer Involved Shooting in Richland County

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the suspect in an officer involved shooting from Monday Night.

Watts says James W. Jennings, Jr. of Wash Lever Road, Little Mountain, SC, was transported by Richland County EMS to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he died at 9:45 p.m.
An autopsy conducted indicated that Mr. Jennings died from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, one of which was self-inflicted.

Sheriff Leon Lott says Jennings shot himself Monday Night, then turned the gun on a deputy, the deputy returned fire.
Lott says he believes Jennings may have been suffering from PTSD. Jennings was a veteran says Lott.
