Watch: CPD Seeks Help in Solving Recent String of Shootings

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook says the 11 year old girl, struck when shots were fired on Falling Springs Road, is in stable condition.

According to Holbrook the Tuesday night shooting is similar to another incident that occurred just down the road on Sunday night that injured a 13 year old boy. He is also said to be in stable condition.
The Chief tells ABC Columbia authorities have dealt with a total of 10 instances of gun violence since July 30th, some of which are believed to be gang related.
He explains, “We know that we have a gun crime problem and we know we have a violent crime problem that is an area of major focus for this department and for law enforcement across the Midlands.”
While some instances are believed to be linked and others random, Holbrook says there’s one thing that stands out about them all.
“We’ve had very little assistance from the community, that’s concerning to me.”
