Coroner: Man, 73 , Suffered Heart Attack Before Fatal Accident

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner released the name of the man who was involved in a single-vehicle collision Wednesday in the 5200 block of Bluff Road.

Gary Watts said the vehicle 73-year-old Clarence Paul O’Berry was driving left the roadway and struck a tree around noon.

An autopsy performed Thursday morning indicated that O’Berry was having a cardiac event and was possibly unconscious when the incident occurred, Watts said.

Watts said the cause of death was due to blunt trauma of the torso due to the collision.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
