COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–School Resource officers may soon get new training in Richland County.
Recommendations for the change were prompted after a Spring Valley High School student was recorded being grabbed and tossed.
The Department of Justice wants to implement policies to include cutting down on arresting students at school, training on bias-free policing and establishing a community program.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says the department is on board.
