Sumter Man Charged in Murder after Argument
SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – Sumter Police say an argument led to a fatal shooting in Sumter Friday afternoon.
Investigators have charged Nathan McBride, 74, in the death of Jermaine Williams, 45.
They say McBride and Williams were arguing at McBride’s home, when Williams drove away. Police say McBride followed him, and when Williams stopped his car on Council Street near its intersection with Bartlette Street around 3 p.m., McBride shot him.
McBride is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
The investigation continues.
