Man Accused of Beating Girlfriend, Setting Car on Fire

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) – Deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a man in connection with assaulting his girlfriend and then setting her car on fire.
The incident occurred Monday night, police say.
36-year-old Jeremiah Humphries, is charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and two counts of third degree arson, according to arrest warrants.
“Based on witness statements gathered during our investigation, Humphries assaulted his girlfriend after arguing with her in front of a home in the 300 block of Porth Circle in Lexington,” Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Detectives believe Humphries then set the victim’s car on fire, which in turn caught the house on fire.”
Humphries, a Lexington resident, is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
