UPDATE: City of Charlotte says civilian who suffered gunshot wound during protests is on life support, not deceased.

Police have deployed flash bangs, tear gas, and people can be seen running down the streets.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sources tell our sister station in Charlotte, WCCB-TV, a person was shot in the head during protests in Uptown Charlotte.

CORRECTION UPDATE FROM THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE: Civilian who suffered gunshot wound during protests is on life support, critical condition. Not deceased.

WCCB reports it was civilian-on-civilian. City of Charlotte confirms that report.

WCCB crews were live in front of the Omni when the shot rang out.

Police have deployed flash bangs and people can be seen running down the streets. Police are using tear gas to disperse the crowd. 7 CMPD officer have been injured and are being treated at area hospitals.
