Newberry Men’s Basketball Has Packed Opening Weekend

newberrywolves.jpgNEWBERRY – Newberry men’s basketball will open the regular season Fridayagainst Erskine and travel to Charlotte later that evening for an exhibition. Newberry will complete the weekend with a contest against North Greenville.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES

The Wolves are led by Gerald Evans who tallied 9.8 points per game and 4.8 assists per contest. Evans is the team’s leading returning scorer.
Newberry continues to light up the scoresheet, hitting 18 three-pointers against the University of South Carolina.

Newberry had 11 players score against USC, including five players in double-digits.

Newberry begins a stretch of three games in two days on November 11-12, beginning with Erskine at 11:00 a.m.

ERSKINE, CHARLOTTE, NORTH GREENVILLE STORYLINES

Erskine and North Greenville will each play their season opener against the Wolves. Charlotte will be counted as an exhibition for Newberry.

2015-16 records: Erskine: 12-15, Charlotte: 14-19, North Greenville 11-18.

Joby Glymph is Erskine’s leading returning scorer and averaged 18.5 points per game. Braxton Ogbueze is Charlotte’s leading returning scorer, averaging 14.5 points per game and NGU’s leading returner Justin Dotson averaged 15.8 points per game.
