Slager Trial in Third Week
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – The trial of a fired white South Carolina police officer in the shooting death of a black motorist entered a third week Monday with prosecution witnesses testifying the officer’s initial account of the shooting differed from dramatic cellphone video seen widely on the internet. Michael Slager, who turned 35 on Monday, faces 30 years to life if convicted of murder in the shooting death of 50-year-old Walter Scott as Scott ran from an April, 2015 traffic stop in North Charleston.
