Wildfire Smoke Affects Midlands’ Air Quality

DHEC Officials Advise Limiting Time Outdoors

Smoke from wildfires around the Southeast is bellowing into the Midlands, covering skylines and leaving clouds of haze around buildings.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control says that the air quality in our area is becoming unhealthy. DHEC officials declared an Air Quality Action Day, suggesting that that people should stay indoors.

“We’re asking everyone to limit their outdoor activities. Stay inside, close the doors, close the windows, if you have air conditioning close the external outdoor intake to it and recirculate the air in the house to protect yourselves as much as possible,” said Midlands Dr. Gil Potter.
