SC Drought Status

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ The U.S. Drought Monitor map shows that one county in South Carolina is in exceptional drought, the highest level of drought.

The map shows Oconee County in the far western part of the state is in exceptional drought. No counties were at that stage last week.

Forty-four percent of the state is in some level of drought, compared to almost 41 percent last week. At this time last year, none of South Carolina was suffering from drought.
