Coroner Releases Name of Toddler Who Drowned in Bucket of Water

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner has released the name of the one-year-old who died Monday after being found in a five-gallon bucket of water at his Elgin home.

Daniel Rodriguez was transported by Richland County EMS to Palmetto Richland Medical Hospital where he was pronounced just before 9 p.m. in the Pediatric ER.

Watts said an autopsy conducted Tuesday morning shows Rodriquez died of Asphyxiation due to drowning.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate.
