S.C. Democrats and Republicans Respond to Haley’s Cabinet Appointment

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Matt Moore borrowing Governor Haley’s expression on the day she accepts her nomination. Moore says everyone should be excited about Haley’s appointment.

“Governor Haley embodies the American Dream. She has worked her way up from a family of immigrants to being governor, she is an American success story. and she brings a really diverse viewpoint to the united nations. I think she’s going to do a fantastic job there.”

Haley herself saying in a statement released this morning: ” I always expected to finish the remaining two years of my second term as governor. Not doing so is difficult because I love serving South Carolina more than anything. When the President believes you have a major contribution to make to the welfare of our nation, and to our nation’s standing in the world, that is a calling that is important to heed.”

South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison also released a statement on Haley’s nomination saying in part: “I hope Governor Haley is a quick study because as one of the nation’s top diplomats, she will have the critical task of dealing in real time with virtually every international crisis that arises. For all of our sakes, I wish her great success.”
