Clemson Notes:

  • Clemson (13-3-5) advanced to the Sweet 16 after defeating in-state rival South Carolina in overtime, thanks to two spectacular goals from senior Alex Happi.
  • Happi has scored all three of his goals this season in the postseason.
  • For the third straight year, the Tigers have advanced to the Sweet 16.
  • Head Coach Mike Noonan is currently 72-46-26 at the helm of the Tigers and is only four wins away from 300 in his career and this season is his 15th appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
  • The Clemson defense is currently ranked 14th in the NCAA with a (0.67) goal against average and 12th in the country with a (0.52) shutout percentage.
  • Sophomore Ximo Miralles is currently second in the ACC with ten solo shutouts.
  • There are a total of eight ACC teams in the Sweet 16 and eight of the 16 teams remaining were on Clemson’s schedule this year.
  • In all overtime matches, the Tigers have not allowed a goal while scoring two.

  • The University of Albany (13-5-2) defeated Boston College 3-0 in its first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16.
  • The Great Danes won the American East title, defeating Hartford 1-0.
  • Junior forward Afonso Pinheiro is ranked 10th in the NCAA with 13 goals and a (0.65) goals per game average.
  • Albany is ranked 14th in the NCAA in scoring offense with (1.90) goals per game.
  • The Great Danes are ranked No. 12 in the RPI.

  • Sunday is the first ever meeting between Albany and Clemson.
