(USC SID) – South Carolina baseball has announced the 2017 schedule that features 36 home games at Founders Park as well as 18 games against 2016 NCAA Regional teams.  The Gamecocks open the season on Friday, Feb. 17 hosting a three-game series vs. UNCG.

For the eighth consecutive year, South Carolina and Clemson will meet in a unique three-game setting.  The series opens on Friday, Mar. 3 at Clemson, with Saturday’s Reedy River Rivalry game at Fluor Field, home of the Greenville Drive, a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox and Sunday’s series finale at Founders Park in Columbia.  The Gamecocks will also play Furman at Fluor Field on Mar. 14.  South Carolina and North Carolina will meet again at BB&T Ballpark, home of the Charlotte Knights, a minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox with the non-conference contest scheduled for April 11.

South Carolina’s 30-game SEC slate begins Friday, Mar. 17 at Tennessee.  The first SEC home series is slated for the next week with the Gamecocks hosting Alabama starting on Friday, Mar. 24.  South Carolina also hosts Vanderbilt (April 6-8), Mississippi State (April 14-16), Kentucky (April 28-30) and Georgia (May 18-20).  SEC three-game series opponents along with Tennessee include Auburn (Mar. 31-April 2), Florida (April 20-22), LSU (May 5-7) and Missouri (May 12-14).

The Gamecocks begin the season with a nine-game homestand.  After the UNCG series, South Carolina will host Charlotte and Kansas State in single game contests followed by a three-game series vs. Wright State and a non-conference tilt with Appalachian State.

South Carolina will play The Citadel twice with a home set for Mar. 7 and will travel to Charleston to play the Bulldogs on Mar. 28 at Joseph P.
