Suspect Used Counterfeit Check to Purchase Over $7K Worth of Jewelry, Police Say

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department are looking for a suspect accused of using a counterfeit check to purchase thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

Authorities say the suspect went to Capital Gold & Silver located in the 8500 block of Two Notch Road on August 19th and presented the check using fake identification and purchased over $7,000 in merchandise.

The business was notified on a later date that the check was counterfeit, police say.
