Woman Arrested in Connection to Body Found on Muller Avenue

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The Columbia Police Department has arrested a 49-year-old woman in connection to the discovery of a body that was found in the trunk of a car on Thursday.

CPD said Wanda Elizabeth Williamson was arrested Sunday evening during a traffic stop. CPD had a warrant out for her arrest for accessory after the fact of murder. Williamson will be booked at the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center.

According to officials with the Columbia Police Department, a tip led investigators to the discovery of a body in the trunk of a car in the 1200 block of East Muller Avenue.

21-year-old David Anderson allegedly killed the victim who has been identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as 21-year-old Rashawn Williams of Columbia, after an argument inside an East Muller Street home.

After the physical altercation, Anderson and his mother, Williamson allegedly removed Williams’ body from the home and placed it in the trunk of a car at the crime scene.

CPD and a Columbia Housing Authority officer received a tip and located the car at the North Columbia home, police said.

Chief Holbrook says, “We know that when a violent crime occurs in one of our neighborhoods, especially a homicide, it leaves citizens frightened and on edge. This case reflects how collaboration, teamwork and attention to detail by CPD Investigators can lead to a quick arrest and eases citizens’ concerns.”
