Mother of Walter Scott Says God Will Bring Justice

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Family members of Walter Scott spoke to the media Monday afternoon after a mistrial was declared in the murder trial of former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager. The first family member to the podium was Judy Scott, Walter Scott’s mother.

Her message was spiritual in nature as she spoke of her faith and belief God would would provide appropriate justice.

“…Jesus is on the inside, and I know that justice will be served, because the God that I serve, he’s able,” Judy Scott said. “He told me to wait on the Lord and be of good courage.”

Scott said she would “rest in the Lord” as the family awaits the federal trial and local retrial of Michael Slager with a new jury.

“We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses,” Judy Scott said.

She said she wasn’t sad about the outcome of the trial.

“I trust God. I believe God. I am encouraged, because I know God is able. He will get us just reward.”
