Richland Co. Sheriff’s Deputies Surprise Speeders With Acts of Kindness

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– It’s the holiday season and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department  is spreading cheer in the Town of Eastover.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department performs traffic stops on a daily basis but today, Region 8 officials gave speeders a gift regardless of whether they have been naughty or nice. Deputies said the gifts are a way for them to connect with people in their community.

The department wants citizens to be comfortable during traffic rather than being afraid. “These traffic stops are a good example so that they know that even though I may have been speeding or even though the law enforcement officer had to stop me, it didn’t have to go bad.”
