COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– President-elect Donald Trump will nominate South Carolina Congressman Mike Mulvaney, to be director of the Office of Management and Budget, according to the Associated Press.

The announcement is expected to be made on Monday. If confirmed by the senate Mulvaney would manage the White House’s annual proposed budget, program and polices.

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement after Congressman Mulvaney was offered the position of Director of the Office of Management and Budget by President-elect Donald Trump:

“By selecting Congressman Mick Mulvaney to serve as Director of the Office of Management and Budget, President-elect Donald Trump will gain a strong voice for conservative, purposeful budgeting and government reform. I have been grateful to serve with Congressman Mulvaney in Congress, and believe he will be effective as Director of OMB.”

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham took to Twitter Saturday to also back Mulvaney, writing, “@RepMickMulvaney would be a great choice for OMB Director.”

Mulvaney was elected in 2010, as the new US Congressman for South Carolina’s 5th District. He currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee as well as the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below following the nomination of Congressman Mulvaney to lead the OMB.

“Mick is a great choice to lead the OMB,” Scott said in a statement. “We entered Congress together in 2011, and I am certain he will tackle his new position with the same passion he has represented the 5th District with over the past six years. Facing a $20 trillion debt, we need someone committed to restoring fiscal sanity in Washington, and I am confident Mick will work to do so.”
