Driver Killed After Being Ejected From Car in Lexington crash identified

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO)- One person was killed after their vehicle overturned and they were ejected in Lexington County Saturday night.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal wreck that happened at 9:38p.m. on Dogwood road near Fish Hatchery Road.

The Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher said John G. Thornton, 29, of West Columbia, was killed when his 2004 BMW traveling westbound on Dogwood road, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a telephone pole, and overturned several times.

Thornton was ejected from the car and died at the scene from his injures, troopers said.

No one was in the vehicle with Thornton when the accident occurred. Thornton was wearing his seatbelt during the accident, Fisher said.

 

This wreck is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
