With USC’s Frank Martin, Clemson’s Brad Brownell, and North Carolina’s Roy Williams mixed in with a capacity crowd at Richland Northeast, Spartanburg Day junior Zion Williamson scored an event record-high 53 points to lead the Griffins past Gray Collegiate 73-53 in their “Chick-Fil-A Classic” opener.

The 6’7″, 230 lb. Williamson, who is ranked across the board as one of the top prospects in the nation for the class of 2018, made 25 of his 28 shots on the night, hauled in 16 rebounds, and was able to outduel War Eagles senior star, fellow five-star prospect, and North Carolina signee Jalek Felton (19 points, 4 assists) for the victory.
