Woman Arrested in Connection to Fatal DUI Crash

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) – A Lexington woman was arrested and charged with felony driving under the influence involving death after causing a two car crash last night.

Nicole Wilson, 29, was intoxicated when she failed to stop for a signal light at Sunset Blvd and Ginny Lane, authorities say.

The crash occurred just after 11 p.m.

The Lexington County Coroner identified the victim as 75-year-old Roger Wayne Johnson of Cayce.

Margaret Fisher said Johnson was transported by EMS from the scene to Lexington Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained in the accident shortly after arrival.

Johnson died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

A passenger in Johnson’s vehicle was transported to Palmetto Health Richland and is reported to be in stable condition, Fisher said.

Wilson was also treated at Lexington Medical Center for minor injuries.

She is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
