40 Young Adults Recognized at Columbia Urban League’s Cotillion
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–It was a night of honoring academic excellence on Saturday night in the Midlands.
The Columbia Urban League hosted it’s 5th annual Project Ready Cotillion at the Brookland Banquet & Conference Center.
Forty young ladies and gentlemen who exemplify academic and social achievement were recognized.
“The young people call me a cry baby because every year we teach them a new waltz and in doing so when they do it,” Juanita Dean-Bate with the Columbia Urban League said. “Just watching them put everything together and it comes out so beautiful. It does, it makes me full because we know what kind of work we put in with these young people.”
Project Ready is a signature program of the National Urban League (NUL) that provides enhanced academic and social support to students ages 11-18 as they prepare for post-secondary success.
Since the program started, Project ready has maintained a 99% high school graduation rate.
