Toddler Shot During Drug Deal, Warrant Says

SANTEE, S.C. (WOLO)- The father of a 2-year-old who was shot in the head in Santee has been arrested in connection to the Saturday night shooting.

The warrant released to ABC Columbia on Sunday indicates that 33-year-old Tyrone Randolf was arrested and charged with unlawful neglect.

Randolf is being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center.

Thom Berry, a SLED spokesman, the 2-year-old girl is being treated at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

The warrant states that  Randolf went a home on Bonner Avenue to buy drugs with his daughter in the backseat. Moments later, there was an exchange of gunfire with someone at the residence, and the child was hit by a bullet.

“The argument escalated and shots were fired,” Berry said. “One bullet struck a 2-year-old who was sitting in the back seat.”

The child was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

The Santee Police Department requested SLED assist with this investigation.
