Gamecocks Honor Future Rhodes Scholar
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- Gamecocks athletics is having a lot of success in sports, but during halftime of the men’s basketball game on Saturday the school honored achievement in the classroom.
Honorary Captain, senior Jory Fleming and his service dog Daisy were recognized. Fleming is one of 32 students in the nation to be named a Rhodes Scholar.
Despite dealing with Autism, Jory is a double major with a perfect GPA.
“Due to a lot of my medical challenges I had to stay close to home, but it worked out,” Fleming said. “USC has top 10 ranked programs, both of my majors, geography and marine science. I’ve really found so much here. This has been the experience of my life.”
Jory and Daisy will spend the next two years studying at the University of Oxford in England.
