Coroner Identifies Victims in Fatal Lexington Co. Fatal Crash

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the mother and son who were killed in a head-on crash Thursday afternoon on Summerland Avenue near Batesburg.
The victims have been identified as 69-year-old Mary Cook and 44-year-old Gary Lee Cook, both of Batesburg-Leesville.
Coroner Margaret Fisher said the driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland was is listed in stable condition
The Cook’s were killed when the vehicle they were in crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol are still investigating the incident.
