COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- A Midlands church dedicated their Sunday service to addressing gun violence in the Palmetto State.

The Reid Chapel AME Church hosted a “Stand Up Sunday” service in hopes bring people together and fight to put an end to gun violence.

Organizers said the service is meant to motivate others to start the conversation at home so that the youth can be protected.

“It is so important as faith leaders that we speak up,” Pastor of Reid Chapel AME Church, Rev. Carey A. Grady said. “We need to bring the issues to our people and let them decide how they’re going to respond. It’s just very critical.”

Organizers encourage others to share this message as an effort to stop gun violence.
