Man Arrested After Receiving a Pound of Marijuana in the Mail

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – An Irmo man was arrested after authorities learned he received a package containing marijuana through the mail.
On November 21, 2016, the U.S. Postal Service alerted the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department that the package containing illegal drugs would be delivered to an address on South Main Street in Prosperity.
Deputies conducted surveillance of the address and conducted a vehicle stop as Kenny Teray Basnight, 24, left the location.
One pound of marijuana was recovered and an additional approximate ounce of marijuana in a book bag in the vehicle, authorities say.
Basnight, now faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He is being held at tNewberry County Detention Center.
