Elgin Man Accused of Assaulting Teen on School Bus

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Kershaw County deputies arrested a 36-year-old man who they say was captured on surveillance video assaulting a teenager on a school bus Tuesday.
Karl Vernon Williams faces charges of assault and battery third degree, disturbing schools, and interfering with the operation of a school bus after the parent of the victim called authorities to alert them of the incident.
Sheriff Jim Matthews said the incident was the result of Williams taking a matter between the 16-year-old male victim and the daughter of Williams’ girlfriend “into his own hands.”
Williams was released for the Kershaw County Detention Center after making bond.
According to authorities Williams has a lengthy criminal history to include: possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, petty larceny, assault and battery, strong armed robbery, discharging firearm into dwelling and furnishing contraband in county prison.
