Man Charged in Sex Abuse of Vulnerable Adult

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A man who was in custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center is now facing additional charges for allegedly sexually abusing a vulnerable adult.

On Tuesday, January 17, police deputies responded to a report of vulnerable adult abuse at a home on Haygood Road in Blythewood.

The suspect, 55-year-old Wardell Wages, was charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct on January 29.

Authorities say the victim agreed to receive food from Wages after walking away from a foster home hours before the incident.

Tips assisted investigators in the identity of Wages. Investigators later discovered additional evidence during a search warrant at Wages’ residence.
