Mother, Son Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

RICHLAND, SC (WOLO)– The Richland County Coroner has released the identity of the two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide Friday afternoon in on May Oak Circle.

Coroner Gary Watts identified the woman as Sim Sok, 67, of May Oak Circle. Watts said Sim died at the scene as the result of a single gunshot wound to the head.

The male victim, David Sok, 34, of May Oak Circle, died at the scene as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Watts said.

Watts said the two were mother and son.

Deputies responded to shots fired at a home in the 1000 block of May Oak Circle in the Summit Subdivision around 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Authorities said they found two bodies inside the home once they went inside.

Preliminary results indicate that this is going to be ruled a murder-suicide.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
