COLUMBIA S.C. (WOLO)- The 13th Annual Karamu Statewide Black History Parade and Festival promoted unity in the Midlands on Saturday.

Hundreds came out the the parade and festival this year to celebrate black history.

It’s all about unity in the community,” President of FUNDS Incorporated, Oveta Glover said. “We had a couple of dignitaries lock arms today as well during the parade. They walked the parade and that was to show that everybody was connected in some kind of way.”

This year the National Buffalo Soldiers were in attendance. After the parade event goers met at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Columbia to listen to live music, watch dance performances and hear from contemporary history makers.

Civil Rights activist James Felder was at the 13th Annual Parade and Festival.
