Benedict Downs Paine, 66-54
AUGUSTA, Ga. (Benedict) – Brandon Morris registered his third consecutive double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Benedict College Tigers to a 66-54 victory over Paine College on Monday at the HEAL Complex.
Umar Frost also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Quayshun Hawkins scored 13 points and Kel Robin added 10 points.
The Tigers improved to 13-7 overall and 10-3 in the SIAC. Paine fell to 1-17 overall and 0-12 in the SIAC.
Benedict led from the opening tip and built as much as a 16-point lead midway through the second half after a 3-pointer by Hawkins.
The Tigers outscored Paine 36-16 in the paint, and had a 41-26 rebounding advantage. Benedict outscored Paine 18-6 on second-chance points.
Benedict travels to Orangeburg on Feb. 15 for a game with rival Claflin University.
