KCSO Continues to Investigate I-20 Chase, Rollover Incident

Malik Deshai Shoulders
KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Law enforcement authorities continue to investigate after an 18-year-old Texas man led a Kershaw County deputy on a high-speed chase around 10 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 20.
Malik Deshai Shoulders is charged with failure to stop for a blue light, possession of marijuana, no valid driver’s license and speeding in excess of 25mph over the limit.
He’s accused of driving 105 miles per hour when the deputy tried to pull him over and increased his speed as he continued toward US1 in Lugoff.
While fleeing, the vehicle Shoulders was driving flipped over 2-3 times, deputies say.
Shoulders lost control of the vehicle as he crossed US1 and ended up in a strip mall on Rasberry Court where authorities say he refused to exit the car and struggled with the deputy.
Two other deputies arrived on scene and Shoulders was arrested.
Deputies say Shoulders said her ran because he had no license and had marijuana in the car.
He is being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center and is waiting a bond hearing.
