Man Inside Home During Hostage Situation Found Safe

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)- A man who was inside the residence during a recent hostage situation in Newberry County has been found uninjured.

Newberry Sheriff Deputies said Richard “Sam” Baxter Jr, 55, was at the residence of before law enforcement arrived but had left before law enforcement arrived. He was being sought so law enforcement can could on his medical well-being and as a witness

Baxter was located at his mother’s residence in Newberry. He was not injured and is cooperating with law enforcement.

Deputies said that Baxter was never a suspect in this incident, officers were just concerned for his welfare.
