Reverend Al Sharpton Addresses Marchers at the State House
Marchers Voice Concerns to Governor McMaster
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- People from all over South Carolina gathered at the State House for the National Action Network People’s March. The network’s founder, Reverend Al Sharpton says Columbia is at the forefront in addressing human rights.
“People are rallying all over the country but Columbia which celebrated bringing down a flag of Confederacy is a place the whole country should look at and say, ‘we’re not going to have policies that are exclusionary, biased, and bigoted’ like that flag represented,” said Sharpton.
Issues like immigration rights, climate change, replacing the Affordable Care Act, and women’s right’s were among the concerns raised at the march.
March organizers say they sent Governor McMaster a letter requesting him to address his stance on their concerns. They hope today’s rally brought more attention to those issues.
