John "Dizzy" Gillepsie

Today we celebrate John Birks Gillespie.

Gillespie, commonly known as Dizzy, was a trumpet player, singer piano player and composer.

The Cheraw native is considered one of the greatest jazz trumpeters of all time.

Dizzy worked with fellow Jazz musician, Charlie Parker, to change the face of the music genre by creating the Bebop and modern Jazz style.
