On Tuesday, Sindarius Thornwell could become the first Gamecock to ever win the SEC Coaches’ Player of the Year Award, but would join some elite conference company. Shaq, Jamal Mashburn, Glen Davis, John Wall, Chandler Parsons and Anthony Davis have all won the award.

The honor is voted on by the league’s coaches, and Thornwell already has a backer in Tennessee coach Rick Barnes.
