Month-Long Manhunt Ends, Burglary Suspect in Custody

Toby Butlar Boyd
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A serial burglar was arrested in Georgia over the weekend more than a month after officials launched a massive manhunt.
Toby Butlar Boyd, 43, was found in Wilcox, Georgia hiding in an abandoned mobile, Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster said.
On February 9, Boyd is accused of fleeing on foot after being stopped driving a stolen truck and stolen camper in Newberry County on Mt. Bethel Garmany Road.
Boyd escaped the area by stealing a pickup truck, authorities say.
The truck was later recovered in Aiken and returned to Newberry County.
He is facing numerous burglary and larceny charges in Georgia and will be extradited back to South Carolina so that formal charges can be filed in Newberry County as well as Aiken, McCormick, and Saluda counties, authorities say.
