SCE&G Working to Restore Power to Over a Thousand Midlands Homes

Wind Causes Some Restored Power to Go Out Again

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- Wednesday’s storms left behind a trail of damage for homeowners all over the state. Thursday’s high winds led to even more power outages, down trees and debris. SCE&G said the severe conditions left thousands without power.

“The winds yesterday brought some outages, we had about 4,800 across our service territory but our crews were able to quickly and safely respond to those outages and the majority of them were restored,” said Ginny Jones of SCE&G.

Jones said Thursday’s winds has caused many of the restored lines to gout again. “We have seen some more today as time has gone on. At this point, we are looking to restore power to about 1,400 homes in Richland and Lexington counties,” Jones said Thursday afternoon.

Toppling trees are a danger in the high winds. SCE&G offers trimming services year round to help prevent branches from falling onto power lines.
