Coroner Identifies Man Killed In Overnight Shooting

COLUMBIA,SC (WOLO)- Columbia Police are investigating after an apparent break-in ended with a man fatally shot.

Officers say they were initially dispatched to the scene for a burglary call and saw signs of a break-in. When they entered the home to investigate further, they found a man deceased. Officers also learned that several electronics were stolen from the home.

According to Watts, Marlin Terrell Butler, 43, of Columbia, SC, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Butler died at the scene.

Columbia Police say the shooting happened in the 2300 block of Candween Court near Two Notch Road before 2:00a.m.

At this time, Investigators continue to determine exactly what happened, including talking with people to gather information on the suspect or suspects.
