AUGUSTA, Ga. (WOLO) — Of all the debutantes driving the fairways of Augusta National Golf Club in 2017, few expected to see 37 year old William McGirt near the very top of The Masters leaderboard.

But after shooting a 69 and 73 over his first two rounds at golf’s signature event, the Boiling Springs resident is in sole possession of fifth place, two strokes back of a four-way tie for first.
