Conference Held to Help Connect Young Professionals

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- Dozens of young professionals got a chance to network with successful South Carolina natives Saturday afternoon.

The second annual Columbia Career Connect Conference was held at the Gala by JW.

The networking event allows up incoming career professionals to engage in conversation with industry leaders.

This years keynote speaker was radio and tv personality, Lenard McKelvey, better known as Charlamagne tha God.

“Its like you’re paying it forward, like what’s the point of you getting experiences, and what’s the point of you being in certain positions and not sharing that information,”McKelvey said. “People share information with me all the time and that’s how I’m able to grow. So why wouldn’t I share information with other people?”

At the end of the event Mayor Steve Benjamin officially made August 8th Charlamagne tha God day in Columbia.

Charleamagne was presented with a plaque to seal the deal.
