Man Charged With Attempted Murder After 5-Hour Standoff With Police


WEST COLUMBIA, SC(WOLO)-A man was arrested after a domestic dispute call turned into a five hour standoff Saturday afternoon.

According to police it happened in the 700 block of Center Street.

The West Columbia Police Department have arrested Dominique Sligh, 24, of West Columbia. Sligh was charged with Attempted Murder and Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.

West Columbia Police Chief, Scott Morrison said the incident stemmed from an argument between Sligh and his girlfriend. They got into an altercation and Sligh fired six shots from a hand gun inside the residence.

Authorities say the victim fled the scene at that time officers arrived and Sligh would not respond to the officers.

SLED came out to assist our Department with additional resources.

They deployed gas into the residence and the suspect then came out of the residence and was taken into custody without incident, Morrison said.

Sligh will be transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
