Gamecocks React, Look to Rebound from Kentucky Blowout
Carolina baseball entered their series against (6) Kentucky coming off what they called a great week of practice. Even with Friday ace Clarke Schmidt shut down for the season, Wil Crowe was ready to go on the mound to start a very important series against the Wildcats.
But the Gamecocks righthander and bullpen were overpowered by the Wildcats’ bats and UK’s pitching stopped USC’s offense cold. Outhitting the hosts 20-7, Big Blue blew past the Garnet and Black 19-1 Friday night at Founders Park.
USC (24-16, 9-10 SEC) falls below .5oo in conference play for the first time this season. In order to avoid losing a fifth-straight series, the Gamecocks must win Saturday’s middle matchup at 4:00 p.m.
