SC State Women’s Tennis Team Draw Georgia In NCAA Championships

ORANGEBURG, SC – The defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Champion South Carolina State women’s tennis team will travel to Georgia to take on third-ranked University of Georgia in Athens, GA in the opening round of the NCAA Tennis Championships, the NCAA committee announced on Tuesday afternoon from Indianapolis.

UGA women’s tennis team grabbed the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and was selected as one of 16 host sites for the first and second round.SC State (9-10 overall, 5-0 MEAC) will play Georgia (17-5, 11-2 SEC) on Saturday, May 13, at 12 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The winner of that contest will face the winner of that morning’s match between the Oregon Ducks and NC State Wolfpack on Sunday, May 14, at 2 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs will make their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 12th overall under the leadership of head coach Hardeep Judge. Meanwhile Georgia, is appearing in its 31st consecutive NCAA Tournament, and has faced South Carolina State twice in the NCAA Tournament leading the series 2-0.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and students, and can be purchased at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex beginning one hour before the match each day.

Georgia will also host the later rounds of the NCAA Championships and the individual single and doubles tournaments, which will be held May 18-29.

Match 1: North Carolina State v. Oregon – Saturday, May 13, 9 a.m.
Match 2: Georgia v. South Carolina State – Saturday, May 13, 12 p.m.
Match 3: Winner of Match 1 v. Winner of Match 2 – Sunday, May 14, 2 p.m.
