Teen Shooting Victim Dies, 14-Year-Old Suspect in Custody
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- A teen who was shot Friday has died, police have arrested a 14-year-old in connection to this shooting.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the teen as Christopher Ladarren Simmons,19. Watts adds that Simmons died from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
The incident happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. yesterday at the 1500 block of Lorick Avenue.
The Columbia Police Department’s investigators have arrested a 14-year-old male in connection with the shooting. At this time, he is charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm under the Age of 18.
Investigators continue to gather information regarding the shooting, including talking with people at the scene and consulting with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
